SUBMIT
Do you wish to submit a portfolio? We’d be glad to see it! We are always looking for new Salon artists.
We have two options:
1) Spring 2010 OPEN CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Salon Ciel, a visual arts organization committed to exhibiting emerging artists, is accepting submissions for its 2010/2011 season.
Submission Deadline: None (early submissions are welcomed + encouraged)
Submission Email: saloncielsubmissions@gmail.com
Fee: FREE
Curator: Lyndsey Beutin
WHAT WE WANT:
We are seeking adventurous, experimental, relevant and savvy artists and works. We are looking for artwork that is visually interesting or appealing; artistic methods and processes that are technically interesting or innovative; and content/concepts that approach socially relevant issues in complex and new ways. We privilege photography, but accept painting and mixed-media submissions as well.
We strongly recommend artists review our website and Gallery Bar and D’mai Event Photos prior to submitting.
If selected, artists must be available to travel to NYC for portfolio reviews, exhibition logistics, and exhibition opening and closing receptions. Salon Ciel works closely with its artists to price and sell works accurately and fairly; however, artists should be flexible in these negotiations to account for the different prospective audiences, venues, and economic climates.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS: All steps must be followed to be considered.
We are accepting the following types of visual art: photographs, film, paintings, collage, mixed-media.
Artists must submit:
1) A website, Flickr stream, or blog that contains images of the artwork to be reviewed.
2) Please include explicit navigation directions to the works you are submitting. Artists that submit a web link with no directions or other information will not be considered.
3) If not on your website, a short artist statement in the body of your email.
4) If not on your website, a short bio in the body of your email.
5) The subject of the email should be “spring submission - [your name]”
2) DISROBING INNOCENCE
What happens when our innocent childhood fantasies –fairies, princesses, cowboys and superheroes– collide with the seven deadly sins of humanity? We seek works containing the symbols of childhood clashing with the obvious or cryptographic adult themes of wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust envy or gluttony. We favor representations which are penetrating, witty, and mischievous without being facile or exploitative.
Submission Deadline: July 12, 2010 (early submissions are welcomed + encouraged)
